Linkin Park je rok sastav iz Agoura Hilsa, Kalifornija. Od nastanka 1996. godine do danas prodali su više od četrdeset miliona kopija albuma i osvojili dva Gremija. Sa njihovim prvim studijsim albumom, ‚‚Hybrid Theory'' postigli su svetsku slavu. Njihov sledeći studijski album, ‚‚Meteora'', nastavio je njihov uspeh.

Poznati su i po nekoliko saradnji, najviše sa reperom Jay-Z-jem u njihovim zajedničkim albumu ‚‚Collision Course'', i saradnji sa mnoštvom umetnika na Reanimation-u. Album je bio među najprodavanijima sa blizu 625.000 kopija u prvoj nedelji, što je drugi najprodavaniji album te godine. Trenutni članovi benda su: Chester Bennington (glavni pevač), Mike Shinoda (reper, ritmička gitara), Brad Delson (glavna gitara), David ''Phoenix" Farrell (bas gitara, prateći vokali), Joseph ''Mr. Hahn'' Hahn (miks, programiranje, uzorci, ritmovi), Rob Bourdon (bubnjevi, klavijatura/klavir).

Rane godine (1996-2000)

Prvobitna grupa se je sastojala od tri dobra srednjoškolska prijatelja. Temelj Linin Parku su postavili Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson i Rob Bourdon. Nakon završetka srednje škole, svoje muzičko intresovanje su uzeli za ozbiljno, sastavu su se pridružili Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell i Mark Wakefield i nazvali njihovu grupu Xero. Budući da nisu imali dovoljno novca, počeli su da snimaju i produciraju pesme u Shinod-inom studiju, u spavaćoj sobi, 1996. Tenzije i frustracije su povećane nakon njihovog neuspelog pokušaja da nađu izdavača za njihov album. Neuspeh je naterao Wakefield-a, do tada pevača u grupi, da napusti sastav i potraži drugi posao. Kasnije je Farrell takođe napustio grupu, ali se opet vratio.

Trebalo im je relativno dosta vremena da nađu Wakefield-u zamenu, što su uspeli kada je Xero angažovao pevača iz Arizone Chester-a Bennington-a. Jeff Blue, zamenik predsednika Zomba Music predložio je Bennington-a bendu marta 1999. Linkin park je objavio album ‚‚Hybrid Theory'' oktobra 2000. Album je uredio i doterao muzički producent Don Gilmor. Hybrid Theory je bio dobro prihvaćen od strane publike; prodato je više od 4,8 miliona kopija u prvoj godini, stekao je status najprodavanijeg albuma u 2001. godini, a u isto vreme singlovi kao na primer ‚‚Crawling'' i ‚‚One step closer'' bili su u vrhu top-lista rok radio stanica tokom te godine. Pored toga, drugi singlovi sa albuma pojavili su se u filmu ‚‚Drakula 2000'', ‚‚Mali Niki'' i ‚‚Valentine''. Hybrid Theory je takođe bio nominovan za tri nagrade Gremi: nagradu za najboljeg novajliju, najbolji rok album i za najbolju hard rok pesmu (za ‚‚Crawling''). Za ovo vreme, Linkin Park je učestvovao na brojnim turnejama i koncertima uključujući Ozzfest, turneju Family Values i KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. Nastavljajući uspeh albuma ‚‚Hybrid Theory'' i ‚‚Reanimation'', Linkin Park je imao značajnu turneju u SAD-u. Bend je počeo da radi na novom materijalu, provodeći u studiju sve slobodno vreme na turneji. Bend je objavio da radi na novom albumu u decembru 2002. godine. Linkin Park se vratio u studio da snima novi materijal 2006. Za produkciju albuma izabrali su poznatog producenta Rick-a Rubina-a. Uprkos planovima, okolnosti su ih naterale da odlože završetak rada na albumu do 2007. godine. Snimili su od trideset do pedeset pesama u avgustu 2006. kad je Shinoda izjavio da je pola posla oko albuma urađeno. Benington je kasnije izjavio da će se album razlikovati od dosadašnjeg nu metal zvuka. Warner Bros. Records je zvanično objavio da će se treći studiski album Linkin Parka zvati ‚‚Minutes to Midnight'' i da će se u SAD pojaviti 15. maja 2007. Nakon četrnaest meseci rada na albumu, bend je od predviđenih sedamnaest pesama uklonio pet. Minutes to Midnight je prodat u više od 600.000 kopija u prvoj nedelji, čineći ga najprodavanijim albumom tekuće godine. Album je takođe u vrhu liste Billboard Charts.

Prvi singl sa albuma, ‚‚What I've Done'' je izašao 2. aprila, a kasnije premijerno prikazan na MTV-u i Fuse-u u istoj nedelje. Publika je odlično prihvatila singl. Dostigavši na listu Billboard Hot 100 nekoliko dana nakon izdavanja, kasnije je bio u vrhu pesama na Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks i listi Mainstream Rock Tracks. ‚‚Bleed It Out'' je drugi singl sa albuma ‚‚Minutes to Midnight'' i izašao je 20. avgusta 2007. ‚‚Shadow of the Day'', treći singl je planiran da izađe u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu 8. oktobra, a u SAD 16. oktobra.

U oktobru 2008. Mike Shinoda otkriva na svom blogu da su on, Phoenix i Hahn počeli da rade na idejama za dve pesme kod Hahn-ove kuće, a da bi studijsko snimanje trebalo da počne uskoro. 2008. Bennington je najavio da će četvrto studijsko izdanje biti konceptualni album. U intervjuu za MTV, u novembru 2008, Bennington je izjavio: ‚‚To mi zvuči malo zastrašujuće, jer mislim da će mi veoma opasti nivo samopouzdanja, ali kad nam je bila predstavljena ideja, dopala nam se. Veoma je inspirativno, i može se povezati sa onim o čemu bismo hteli da pišemo.'' Dodao je i da bend planira da započne snimanje u decembru. Album se očekivao sredinom 2009, ali je Mike Shinoda krajem marata na svom blogu napisao: ‚‚Nadamo se da će novi Chesterova album ‚‚Dead by sunrise'' izađi ove jeseni, a novi album Linkin Parka početkom sledeće godine''

U decembru 2009, Digidesign je dao benu priliku da proba novi Pro Tools 8 software. Eksperiment je rezultirao isntrumentalnom pesmom ‚‚Lockjaw'' u izvođenju Shinode i Bourdon-a.

U maju 2010, Linkin Park je objavio da će rad na njihovom novom albumu biti završen u 2010, sa ciljem da bude ‚‚genre-busting'' (rušilac žanrova). Bennington je najavio da će Rick Rubin producirati nov album.

19. januara 2010 Linkin Park je obajavio novu pesmu pod nazivom ‚‚Not alone'' kao deo kompilacije Music for Relief koja je bila podrška ljudima koji su preživeli zemljotres na Haitiju.

6. juna bend otkriva da je album pri kraju i anjavljuje prvih pet datuma za svoju prvu turneju u 2010. 8. jula su zvanično objavili da njihov novi album ‚‚A thousand suns'' treba da bude objavljen 14. septembra. Prvi singl, ‚‚The Catalyst'', objavljen je 2. avgusta 2010. Početkom septembra obajavljuju još 3 pesme: ‚‚Wretches and Kings'', ‚‚Waiting for the end'' i ‚‚Blackout''.
